CHRISTMAS CARDTOON 2024
HM: Following the popularity of my Christmas Card last year, I developed an edition for this festive season. I approached this project differently and produced a design reminiscent of a Van Gough oil painting. Keeping in line with Van Gogh, I wanted the animated surprise to have an aesthetic similar to the paint - on - glass style as seen in Loving Vincent (2017).
HM: I always have vivid memories sitting by the fireplace with my pets during Christmas time. Therefore, I wanted the card's design to evoke this happy festive memory. While I wanted to have a design for each pet, the fireplace needed to feature traditional objects connected to a member of my family. For instance, the slice dried oranges in the wreath are associated with my sister, who made wreaths during Christmas holidays.
HM: In contrast with my Christmas card from year, I wanted the animated surprise to have a simpler sequence. Therefore, the only element that's traditionally animated is the fire.
