OCEANA UK & PATAGONIA 2024
HM: In 2024, I was approached by Lauren Henshaw of Patagonia to provide illustrations for Oceana UK's campaign against ocean trawling in the european seas. The illustrations were applied to the exterior and interior of a box storing petitions highlighting the urgency of politicians to take action against industrial fishing. The petitions were consequently delivered to various cities across Europe, including Brussels for the European Commission.
HM: The exterior designs (above) were created to depict oceanic life commonly found in the Baltic, Mediterranean, and Black Seas. The box itself was designed to resemble a fish tank, requiring each illustration to maintain a 360-degree perspective—allowing the viewer to experience the scene as if observing the entire surface area of the box. In contrast to the exterior's vibrancy, the interior designs (below) illustrates the devastating impact of trawling, showing a school of seabass ensnared in a net and the irreversible damage left in its wake.
