Autsim, Music & Education

A musical project with Wendy Benefer

HM:  In April 2024, we were approached by No Drama Llamas to produce a collection of graphics required by Wendy Benefer, a music teacher who provides lessons and tutorials for neurodivergent children. Wendy is also an accomplished musician for her band Whirligig, as well as her duo Snapshot.

The Brief

My task was to produce informative yet characterful graphics to the footage provided by Hannah Dingle from.  While watching the footage, I noticed that Wendy is a huge admirer of the Beatles and decided to incorporate one of their known fonts into the graphics. Wendy's waistcoat worn in the footage also provided inspiration for the overall colour palette for my work.

Autism Explained

HM: As someone who is neurodivergent, I felt very personal connection towards this project. While the graphics were meant to inform the viewers of wendy's music lessons, it was also meant to demonstrate the key factors about someone is autistic. The graphics covered a plethora of autistic traits, such as an  'Executive Dysfunction' and 'Burnouts', and how someone can respond when these traits become visible on someone who's autistic.

As with previous projects, Toon Boom Harmony was used to create the graphic for the video while After Effects was used for the motion design elements and the texture effects.
